Happy Mother's Day

In honor of Mother's Day, here is a list about my mom:

Thank you for all the hours spent reading aloud to Shelby and me (Little House on the Prairie series, James Herriot stories, etc...) Thanks to you, I learned to love books.

Thank you for home schooling and suffering through 12 years of math with me. It couldn't have been easy trying to teach math concepts to a child who stopped understanding in the 2nd grade. :)

Thank you for teaching me to cook.

Thank you for encouraging and supporting my interests and hobbies.

Thank you for teaching me to drive, and telling me at the age of 18 that I would have to get my license because you would not be following me to college to be my chauffeur. :)

Thank you for having a special place in your heart for animals and teaching me about compassion.

Thank you for letting me be a child and spend plenty of time playing, imagining, and day dreaming.

Thank you for making sure I had a close relationship with my grandparents and great-grandma.

Thank you for taking me to nursing homes to visit.

Thank you for supporting my trips abroad and giving my adventures your blessing.

Thank you for the Cabbage Patch dolls, Barbies, stuffed animals, and play kitchen set. :)

Thank you for the many days of blankets on the couch, glasses of apple juice, and Disney movies when I was sick.

Thank you for the slumber parties with my friends.

Thank you for letting us kids move the furniture and slide all the way down the hall into the living room in our socks or on pillows.

Thank you for letting me voice my opinions.

Thank you for letting the house be comfortable and lived in.

Thank you for teaching Shelby and me that our worth is not found in another person and for loving us as individuals.

Thank you for the laughter and fun that turned ordinary days into goofy, memorable ones. :)
