Mail Call

"What a wonderful thing is the mail, capable of conveying across continents a warm human hand-clasp". ~Author Unknown

~Letters and cards from Amber and Matt in Oregon, Dani in Michigan, and Jennalyn in Alabama~

Even though stamps are priced sky-high at 46 cents; snail mail is still the best!

Dani, I love your artistic representation of us climbing a mountain! :)

Technology has its benefits, to be certain. I recently reconnected with a childhood pen-pal thanks to Facebook.
But, our friendship began many years ago through the postal system. Her messages arrived post-marked from Kazakhstan and mine arrived at her home with an American stamp. We learned about each other's families and cultures. We never met face-to-face, yet we were connected by letters, envelopes, and stamps.

Our childhoods were many years ago. Time marched on and we lost track of each other. What a wonderful surprise it was when I opened a Facebook message from someone named Anne in Russia and discovered that she was my old friend from those pen-pal days! We both graduated from college. She is married now and lives in Russia.

I still have all the letters she sent.

I love getting mail. Ever since pen-pal days going to the mailbox has been like waiting for Santa Claus. Haha. Now that we live in a small town, it's going to the post office to check the mail which is like a little adventure every time!
