Spring Has Sprung

"It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." ~Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

On this, the first day of spring, I was delighted to discover a stock tank filled with ducklings at a local farm store. They were a pile of yellow, fluffy cuteness.
I informed the ducklings that they were the most adorable creatures I had ever seen. They were indifferent to my outpouring of admiration.

Happy 1st Day of Spring! :)

Awake, thou wintry earth -

Fling off thy sadness!

Fair vernal flowers, laugh forth

Your ancient gladness!

~Thomas Blackburn, "An Easter Hymn"

Love the ducklings! It is spring here by Lake DeFuniak, as proclaimed by a mother duck and her four tiny duckling babies, marching and stumbling along after her as she stopped traffic on Circle Drive!
I was hoping there would be a picture of a purple hyacinth after the daffodils. Their heavy, sweet perfume always made me want to put my nose right up against their ruffled blossoms and breathe in the announcement that spring had definitely sprung! Love the daffodils too, for they are never wrong in their arrival from the frozen ground..and for whatever reason, the deer population has no appetite for their pretty blossoms. But tulips, beware..you offer dessert for the hungry doe or buck. Thanks for sharing your blog...always enjoy your photography and your remarks. Happy Spring to you...Eileen Snider
