167. half-turned leaves, spinning to the ground before winter

October 3rd: A gift caught, let go, mid-way
168. graceful moments in the midst of chaos, captured to remember in the darkness
169. learning to let go of my way or the highway
170. a promising job possibility, mid-way, anticipating

October 4th: Three gifts reaped
171. friends, gathered close, fellowship
172. picking apples in an orchard
173. learning that to gather, sometimes I have to let go 

October 5th: Three gifts returned
174. a smile from a stranger
175. a book read, reflected, returned 
176. a dish, once full of food, returned empty, enjoyed, ready to be refilled

October 7th:  A gift baked, stirred, eaten
180. homemade chocolate chip cookies, baked so often, the recipe is memorized
181. a steaming cup of tea, honey stirred in, the morning sweetened just so
182. oatmeal, berries, brown sugar, cream, eaten simply, favorite breakfast

October 8th: Three gifts prayed for
183. a lesser diagnosis, something that can be healed
184. a full-time job teaching preschoolers
185. an opportunity to help orphans 

October 9th: Three gifts praised for

186. my part-time job--a job that was supposed to end ten months ago, but is still providing
187. a car that gets great gas mileage
188. the unbridled affection and unconditional love of my dogs

October 10th: Three hard eucharisteo

189. learning through pain
190. praising the Lord in all circumstances
191. seeing and entering into the suffering of others 

October 11th: Three gifts of change

192. moving six times in the past three years, finding friends along the way
193. birthdays
194. spring, summer, autumn, winter

October 12th: A gift small, smaller, smallest

195. my violin
196. its strings
197. the sound vibrations that travel to my ears so I can hear the creations of Mozart and Bach humming off the strings

October 13th: Three gifts read

198. encouraging words in a card from an elderly friend
199. a book about the Irish famine in the 1840s, new knowledge
200. a scripture that sheds light on my current situation 

October 14th: Three gifts said

201. I love you and I miss you
202. discussions about social justice and faith with my sister and best friend
203. well done and thank you

October 15th: Three gifts re-read

204. scriptures already memorized, yet shedding new light when re-read
205. To Kill a Mockingbird--it never gets old no matter how many times I read it
206. favorite children's books

October 16th: Three gifts burning

207. the desire held from childhood to help orphans, burning, impossible to ignore
208. the logs in Grandma's fireplace, snapping and crackling, giving warmth to everyone who enters the house
209. scented candles, giving light and making the air smell delightful

October 17th: Three gifts ugly-beautiful

210. the intensive care unit in a hospital, not a place you want to be, yet restoring life
211. the raw power displayed in nature
212. scars, proof of pain, proof of survival

October 18th: A gift shared, saved, surrendered

213. a home-cooked meal, friends gathered 'round the table, sharing food and memories
214. encouraging letters and cards, saved to reread when I forget and falter
215. the life of a loyal dog, surrendering to the illness or old age, loving means letting go

October 19th: Three gifts unexpected

216. funds generously provided out of the blue
217. finding a new friend
218. a phone call from a friend, offering a prayer on my behalf

October 20th: Three gifts unconventional

219. being homeschooled, an uncommon education
220. simplified living, an unorthodox way of life
221. being a living history reenactor, an unusual hobby

October 21st: Three gifts undervalued

222. shoes, not thought about very often, taken for granted by those who have always had them
223. clean water, not noticed until access to it is no longer available
224. good health, ignored until it goes away and illness takes it place

October 22nd: A gift silent, still, strong

225. books, silent, yet thundering with the words of others since time began
226. a lake on a windless day, smooth, still, reflecting 
227. healthy muscles, walking, running, swimming, jumping, strong 

October 23rd: Three gifts begun

228. on the path to a healthier lifestyle
229. reading through the New Testament, writing down specifically what christians are called to do
230. planning a trip to Europe

October 24th: Three gifts accomplished

231. completing two half-marathons
232. making a quilt
233. graduating from college

October 25th: Three gifts enjoying

234. a stack of books from the library
235. homemade molasses cookies and a glass of ice cold milk
236. the companionship of my dogs

October 26th: Three gifts extravagant

237. salvation through Christ
238. the never-runs-out, gracious love of my family and friends
239. prayer--God, the Creator of the universe, wants to hear from His children

October 27th: A gift humbling, honoring, happy

240. a lesson that convicts my spirit and challenges me to change my bad attitude
241. remembering our veterans on November 11th, honoring their service and sacrifice
242. playing with a puppy, happiness with fur on it

October 28th: Three gifts in Christ

243. peace that passes understanding
244. sisters, brothers, mothers, and fathers all over the world
245. a friend who is always present, ready to listen 

October 29th: Three gifts on time

246. God's will, always right, always working, always on time, even when I don't understand
247. a flight that arrives, no delays
248. a sunny day for a picnic, not a cloud in the sky 

October 30th: Three gifts overjoyed

249. meeting a friend or family member at the airport, unable to contain the joy of reuniting
250. a good, all is well report from the doctor
251. spending the holidays with my sister, a rare occurrence due to work schedules, delighted when we get to be together on Christmas morning

October 31st: Three gifts hallowed

252. our Savior
253. God's commandments and laws
254. the life of a disciple, striving for holiness
