Go West!

Date of Departure--May 11th, 2012
If we get stranded or lost, we will not starve--Mom made sure of that! There are assorted bags of chips in the back window, canned goods in the floorboards, and tuna under the seats.

~Dad is looking forward to seeing Glacier National Park for the first time~

Mom is thankful she does not have to travel west in one of these. If wagons were still the mode of travel, she would have stayed back east.
We stopped at Bass Pro in Kansas City so Dad could purchase a fishing pole. I never pass up an opportunity to take pictures of moose, alive or dead. :)

~Supper in the Bass Pro parking lot: homemade curried egg salad and carrots~

We arrived late in St. Joseph, MO and decided to stay in a motel instead of setting up camp. For those of you who know my fear of tornadoes, this sign cracked me up. They made severe weather sound like a tea party. If I was in charge of creating a warning sign, it would read, "When severe weather strikes, be prepared. Put on a helmet and go underground; an abandoned missile silo is the best choice. If that is not possible, move somewhere without tornadoes."
