Trail of Cedars & Avalanche Lake--July 4th, 2012

Clements Mountain
Dani and I planned to hike to Grinnell Glacier, but it was terribly windy (it is dangerous to hike on extremely windy days because bears can't hear you approaching). We decided to drive to Logan Pass and the west side of the park.
It was freezing at the pass. Dani quickly retreated into the warm visitor center.
So cold! Dani nearly froze at Logan Pass, but upon reaching the west side, the temperatures were in the 80s. She then was too hot, but had worn a long sleeve shirt. #1 rule for Glacier--dress in layers, no matter the season.
Snow on the 4th of July! :)
Lake McDonald--West Glacier
Dani loves having her picture taken with trees. :)
Trail of Cedars
Dani and I decided to hike to Avalanche Lake (6 miles roundtrip). Some people had just spotted a grizzly bear nearby when we began hiking. I hadn't brought bear spray because I didn't think we would be taking a hike that afternoon. Much to Dani's amusement, I asked every hiker we passed along the trail if they had seen a bear. You can't be too cautious, in my opinion. :)

Avalanche Lake

On our drive back to St. Mary, we spotted a deer! :)
