| Shelby and I arrived at Devil's Tower in the late afternoon. We hiked around the base and watched a few rock climbers trying to reach the top. |

| I visited Devil's Tower two times prior in the summer of 2005 and spring of 2012, but after viewing the land in late September, I decided autumn was my favorite. |

| Late September is the best time to travel out west. The crowds are few to none and the weather is cool and pleasant. |
