Happy Mother's Day to the women who raised me! smile emoticon They have lived with courage, grace, endurance, and joy. They taught me how to cook, sew, and clean house, as well as to be brave, travel the world, raft rivers, and climb mountains. When I think of these women, I think of laughter, homemade cookies, and quiet strength. They forged bonds that held our families together through death, anger, a house fire, cancer, surgeries, unemployment, tumultuous teenage years, and disappointment. As the song says, my mama is the light in the window of the house I grew up in.
