"You get a strange feeling when you are about to leave a place; like you'll not only miss the people you love, but you will miss the person you are now at this time and this place, because you'll never be this way ever again." -Azar Nafasi

Travel makes friends out of strangers.

-Melanie (Great Britain), Erin (Canada), and Lyndsey (Northern Ireland/Hungary)-

We spent Saturday morning (July 11th) wandering around Brasov, enjoying the cooler weather. It was a relief, albeit a short one, from the sweltering temperatures (90-95 degrees).

"In May 1944, almost 150,000 Jews living in Northern Transylvania were deported to Auschwitz by the German Nazis with the help of the Hungarian Horthyst authorities. Almost all were murdered. 240 Jews born in Brasov, including 38 children, perished in the Holocaust. Their names were carved on this monument to keep their memory alive."

Strada Sforii (String Street) is the narrowest street in Brasov. It was built as a corridor for firefighters, and was first mentioned in 17th century documents. It measures 44 and 53 inches across and is 260 feet long.

-Lyndsey, me, and Melanie-

We stayed up late discussing social justice; prayed together; talked about Christianity, service, and spiritual warfare while sipping cups of tea in the morning,; laughed; taught each other about our cultures and home countries (Northern Ireland/Hungary, England, and USA); and fell in love with the children who took our hands and captured our hearts.

I couldn't have asked for better housemates. These ladies hold a special place in my heart. When I look back, they will comprise some of my best memories.
